Equally Guilty…Hello World

Equally Guilty

This is a conversation that I heard recently:

“You don’t know what you are talking about, the Roman’s killed the Christ.  When they beat him and hung him on the cross, they were and are responsible for his death!”

“Liar, liar! The Jew’s are the one’s who killed Jesus!  They  had him arrested, mock trial and turned him over to the Romans to crucify! You don’t know a thing about it!”

Equally angry, equally blaming the other for the death of Jesus Christ and equally wrong.

Let us look at why they are both equally wrong.

The Roman’s are gentiles.  They are not Jews. They were the government in control of the land and the people who lived there. They were the one’s who carried out the Law and if you broke it – you paid with a flogging, scourging, beating, and if it was bad enough, they would crucify you by nailing you to a cross and letting you hang there until you died and then leave you there till the birds and wild animals picked your bones clean. Bad way to die.

The Jews were the folks who lived under Roman Government. Along with other nationalities and all were to obey the Law of Rome. The Jewish Rabbi’s taught the people, told the people what to believe, how to follow the law and  when to do it. They told the people to do whatever the Romans said and keep quiet.

Jesus was born of a virgin, baptised by John and preached the gospel to the Jews first and then to the gentile.

Isaiah 53 says:    Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground; he has no form, nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid our faces from him, he was despised and we esteemed  him not.  Surely,  he  has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him  and with his stripes we are  healed. All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

So, WHO is to blame for the death of Jesus?     BOTH- Gentile and Jew.  And neither one killed him because:

John 10:14    I AM the good shepherd: and know my sheep and am known of  mine. As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father and I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR THE SHEEP   (Jews)..And other sheep (Gentiles) I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring and they shall hear my voice and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.  Therefore, does my Father love me, because I lay down my life that I might take it again.  NO MAN takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it up again.  This COMMANDMENT have I received of my Father.

Our (Jew, Gentile, red, yellow, black or white) sin is responsible for His death.  He willingly lay down His Life so we could be forgiven of all our sin.  It is a faith-thing.  All that happened was orchestrated by the Father and the Son so that His Children could come home by faith, by grace by the blood of Jesus.

All are equally guilty of the death of Jesus.  Because All have sinned.

Who killed Jesus?   Sin.  All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Who died?         Jesus. Because He loves you, and the Father loves you

It is time to FAITH-IT.   Believe on the Lord Jesus and what He did for you and you shall be saved.  You don’t have to work for it.  You just have to believe it……..It is finished.
